Welcome The Capland Speech Therapy Center is a community speech-language-hearing center located at 2660 Aero Drive in Port Arthur, Texas. The agency provides diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic remediation for individuals of all ages experiencing communication or swallowing disorders. The Capland Center also offers a hearing screening program that is designed to provide audiological hearing screenings for pre-school through adult age client to identify potential hearing deficits. Clients failing the hearing screening are referred to hearing specialists or physicians as appropriate.
Our Mission The Capland Speech Therapy Center was established in 1953 to serve children with speech and hearing disorders. The agency broadened its mission in 1958 to serve adult clients as well as children. The Capland Center has continued its original mission of providing affordable speech-language-hearing therapy services to residents of Jefferson, Orange, Hardin and the surrounding counties. The Capland Center receives partial funding from area United Way organizations which enables the agency to offer financial assistance to economically disadvantaged clients needing speech-language-hearing therapy services.
Program Description The agency provides speech-language diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic remediation to individuals of all ages that are experiencing communication disorders. The communication disorder may be affecting articulation, language (comprehension, expression, reading, writing), voice or fluency. Swallowing disorders are also treated at the agency, usually for the client that is experiencing complications as a result of a neurological condition or disease. Additionally, the agency offers a hearing screening program to identify clients with potential hearing impairments. Clients suspected of having hearing impairment are referred to either a medical specialist or an audiologist.
